Anthony Edwards, the reigning SEC Freshman of the Year, was drafted No. 1 overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2020 NBA draft on Wednesday night. Edwards, a 6-foot-5 guard, was considered one of the top prospects in the draft and was widely expected to go in the top three.
Edwards averaged 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game for Georgia last season. He was also named to the All-SEC First Team and was a finalist for the Naismith Award, given to the nation's top college basketball player.
The Timberwolves are hoping that Edwards can be a franchise-changing player. He is a dynamic scorer and playmaker who can create his own shot and make plays for others.
