Hockey Canada Updates Dressing Room Policy to Promote Inclusion and Respect

Minimum Attire Rule Implemented

October 5, 2023, 9:10 PM

Sudbury, ON: Hockey Canada has announced a new minimum attire rule for all minor hockey dressing rooms, effective February 1, 2024. The policy aims to promote inclusion and respect for all participants by requiring individuals to wear a minimum level of clothing while in the dressing room.

The decision to update the Dressing Room Policy was made after extensive consultation with stakeholders, including players, parents, coaches, and administrators.

The updated policy requires all individuals to wear a minimum of undergarments or a one-piece swimsuit and a top that covers the midriff when changing in the dressing room. This rule applies to all players, coaches, and other individuals who may be present in the dressing room.

Hockey Canada's leadership believes that this new rule will help create a more inclusive and respectful environment for all participants. By requiring individuals to wear a minimum level of clothing, the policy will reduce the risk of uncomfortable or unsafe situations and create a more positive atmosphere for all.
