Biden Faces Fresh Wave of Democratic Pressure

The latest on the 2024 presidential race

Democratic mood darkens as Biden faces new pressure

A new poll shows Trump with his biggest lead of the campaign as high-level Democrats publicly voice their concerns about Biden's age and competence.

The poll, conducted by the Wall Street Journal and NBC News, found that Trump leads Biden by 5 points among registered voters, 47% to 42%. This is Trump's largest lead in the poll since he first announced his candidacy in June 2015.

The poll also found that Biden's approval rating has fallen to 41%, the lowest of his presidency. Just 38% of Americans approve of the way he is handling his job as president.

The poll results come as Biden faces growing pressure from within his own party. Several high-level Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton, have publicly voiced their concerns about Biden's age and competence.

Clinton said in an interview with CNN that he is "worried" about Biden's ability to handle the demands of the presidency. He said that Biden is "a good man" but that he is "not sure he has the stamina" to be president.

Other Democrats have echoed Clinton's concerns. Former Vice President Al Gore said that he is "concerned" about Biden's "mental acuity." And former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that she is "not sure" if Biden is "up to the job" of being president.

The pressure on Biden is growing as the 2024 presidential race approaches. Biden has not yet announced whether he will seek a second term, but he is widely expected to do so.

If Biden does run for reelection, he will face a tough challenge from Trump. Trump has already announced his candidacy and is leading in the polls.

The 2024 presidential race is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in recent history. Biden will need to overcome the concerns about his age and competence if he wants to win reelection.
