Jalen Ramsey Dolphins Injury

Jalen Ramsey Injury Update: Dolphins Cornerback Sidelined Indefinitely

Miami's Star Cornerback Suffers Hamstring Injury in Preseason Game

The Miami Dolphins have been dealt a significant blow with the news that star cornerback Jalen Ramsey has suffered a hamstring injury that will sideline him indefinitely. Ramsey, acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams, was expected to be a key piece of the Dolphins' defense in 2023. According to head coach Mike McDaniel, Ramsey sustained the injury during the team's preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The severity of the injury is still being evaluated, but initial reports indicate that Ramsey could miss a significant amount of time. Ramsey's absence will be a major challenge for the Dolphins, who were already thin at the cornerback position. Byron Jones, another key cornerback, is also recovering from an Achilles injury and is unlikely to be ready for the start of the regular season. The Dolphins will now have to rely on Nik Needham and Kader Kohou as their starting cornerbacks. Needham has been a reliable performer for Miami, but Kohou is a relatively inexperienced player who has yet to establish himself as a consistent starter. The Dolphins' defense was already expected to be a weakness in 2023, and Ramsey's injury will only compound that issue. The team will now have to hope that Needham and Kohou can step up and fill the void left by Ramsey's absence. In addition to being a physical setback, Ramsey's injury is also a financial blow to the Dolphins. The team traded a first-round pick to the Rams for Ramsey, and they are now on the hook for his contract, which pays him $20 million per season. The Dolphins will hope that Ramsey can return to action sooner rather than later. However, with the regular season just a few weeks away, it is becoming increasingly likely that the team will have to start the year without their star cornerback.
