Tony Alford Calm About Donovan Edwards, Confident In Mullings

Donovan Edwards' absence from practice is not a cause for concern, says Tony Alford.

Ohio State running backs coach Tony Alford is not concerned about the absence of star running back Donovan Edwards from practice this week.

"He's just a little banged up," Alford said. "He'll be back next week."

Edwards, a sophomore, has been one of the Buckeyes' most productive players this season, rushing for 711 yards and nine touchdowns on 110 carries.

Mullings will step up in Edwards' absence.

In Edwards' absence, Alford said he is confident that redshirt freshman Miyan Williams will step up and fill the void.

"Miyan is a very talented player," Alford said. "He's shown us a lot this season, and we're excited to see what he can do with an increased role."

Mullings has carried the ball 39 times for 231 yards and two touchdowns this season. He has also caught 10 passes for 100 yards.

The Buckeyes will host Maryland on Saturday at Ohio Stadium.
